Enchantment: Back-story excerpt 2/3
Hai! Yeah, it's me again. A quick rundown on what's been going on: I have decided to pop in a new character: Lynn. Lynn Kaylie, to be exact. (Kaylie's her code name.) She is nine, and she shows up from the human's world. She is completely human, nothing mixed in, whereas Madeline is part fairy part human, and Lillian part elf part human. (Yeah, you read that right.) Also, if you're new here: Enchantment is my fantasy series of stories which I'm working on. There are three girls, Madeline Rosy, Lillian Robyn, and Lynn Kaylie. The last names are their code names. They came from the human world into this parallel universe, where everyone are elves and fairies. They have to collect nine objects. Anyways...this is Lillian's backstory excerpt! (It's linked in with Madeline's)

I watched Madeline running away as I leapt from here to
there, defending myself with a spear. If I had something else it would have
been considerable to stay there and fight to the death, but I took little steps
backward every time, managing to give a surprise attack. The ends of my maroon
cape danced around me, and I pulled my hood over me and started again. I
wondered if I looked like a savage little Red Riding Hood. I mean, really!
I freed myself from them and ran in the direction Madeline
had gone. I meant to catch up with her. It wasn’t my fault she’d been spying
around the castle, intending to give Naomi a fright. Not my fault at all.
Madeline was sensible and practical,
but sometimes a bit too much! Me, I was the arty, dreamy counterpart to her.
The name they all had given her ‘Maiden Rosy’ was up in flames. And as for me,
‘Miss Robyn’ was also erased from their minds. Huh, silly Madeline.
My heterochromia-afflicted eyes looked around as I ran, and
I could see no girls with short, dark brown hair, and a pale pink blouse above
a red-and-white striped skirt. I let out a groan which sounded odd in the
silence of the night. I wanted to scream, “MADELINE!” But, of course, no one
could know our real names. Rosy was quite a common name here, and half of the
population would probably come running!
I heard swift footsteps, and ran to catch up with them. Sure
enough, Madeline stopped and looked at me. “Thanks.” I heard her voice, under
her breath. I slipped my dagger under my cape and looked at her. “You have some
explaining to do.”
