The Dream-weaver ~ Excerpt
So, today, I decided to give you an excerpt of my story called, "The Dream-weaver". I'll tell you a short summary of it right now. So, basically a full fairy in a world where there are tri-lings, half-lings, and full fairies goes to a boarding school where she unlocks an extremely dangerous secret that threatens to destroy all the full fairies who live in the land. This doesn't actually deal with that bit; it just talks about how nervous she feels leaving her parents and everyone she knows. She has two powers - one is that she can control wind - and the other which she keeps secret is that she is sort of a 'mistress of dreams' as she describes herself. It is a very dangerous power because if anyone who knows about it - including her - tells someone, they will immediately perish. So, here is a short excerpt from the story!
The Dream-weaver
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Misti watched the landscape change as she looked out of her carriage's window. Misti didn't want to go to boarding school. The simple thought freaked her out. Misti was a rather wealthy fairy who thrived in Starry-clouds, the most perfect neighborhood up in the stars. Misti wasn't a snob. She was a girl who was mysterious at first sight, and her hands often would burst out with an uncontrollable wind.
She looked down at her uniform. Misti was part of Wonder-dream, one of the two houses in Crystal Academy. Her uniform for Wonder-dream was a short light blue dress, with light blue ballet slippers and all of her clothing had a sentence written on it in gold: Wonder-dream, Crystal Academy. Not too fancy for school; good, thought Misti. Her silky black hair shook in its ponytail; her mind quietly tried to embrace the fact that she wouldn't be seeing her parents and Luma, her fluffy white star-kitten.
"We're here, darling." announced Mrs Starbeam. Misti questioned herself if her mother even knew if she was content or not with boarding school. Mr Starbeam parked the carriage in a cloud parking-lot. After she had managed to carry out her small trunk from the car and her night-bag, she waved to her mother and father - a rather gloomy wave - and vanished into the milling crowd.
She managed to find the head mistress of Wonder-dream - Miss Flower. Her eyes were a bright olive-green and her skin was pale, and her hair was a straight reddish-brown. She was wearing a purple shirt with a darker purple skirt and her very appearance seemed to be scatter-brained. Misti wondered if she was scatter-brained in manner.
"Your dormitory is number seven, in East Tower. What's your name again?" asked Miss Flower. Misti sighed and said, "Mistique Starbeam." Then she flew off with her trunk and night-bag.
When she reached her dorm, she took in her surroundings. There were six beds, and Misti had the third one. Each bed had a side-table beside it, and beside the side-table was a small cupboard to hang your school uniform in, any dresses, and your coat and hat. Around each bed and its two accompanying pieces of furniture was a sort of cubicle which you could draw curtains round, like in hospitals. You could leave them open or closed, as you wished.
Suddenly, Misti had a thought. I'm going to miss home a lot..
