   Second Attempt

 

It was the day. Again. Last time Hibiscus had been in the Cake-It kitchen with flying colours. Now was the second test. Hibiscus was at her station with her pretty red apron. She was ready. “Your time starts………..NOW!” Shouted Sara, a judge of the bake-off. Hibiscus rushed to the pantry with all the other competiters. They had to make some kind of oven-cooked pasta. She raced to grab some penne,cheese,sausage,and ingredients for béchamel sauce. She raced back to her station.

She started cutting up the sausage. But cooking the penne was a hard task. She had only 45 minutes to make it. The penne was done in 15 minutes. She started on the béchamel sauce. This took 5 minutes. She mixed all the ingredients in a bowl. She sprinkled cheese over the top and stuck it in the oven. There were only 10 minutes left.

5 minutes later, she slid it out. She quickly put a serving on a plate. 1 minute left. “Stop!” Said Rose. “Hibiscus first.” Hibiscus walked forward with her dish. “What did you make?” asked Sara. “I made cheesy pasta casserole.” Said Hibiscus. They took a bite each. “Amazing flavor.” Said Rose.

“Beautiful texture.” Said Sara. Hibiscus smiled and walked back to her station. They called everyone, testing out their dishes and then Rose announced “The best of you in here today are Hibiscus, Sweetie, and Charlotte. The two that are going to be out of this competition are Feather and Skye.” Feather and Skye walked out of the  kitchen with goodbyes behind them. Hibiscus was jumping for joy. She felt like she was going to explode with happiness as she ran down the street and to the hotel where her family was staying. She had passed miraculasly once again. Hibiscus had to keep on this road. If she did, she would make it to the finals and maybe even be the next Junior Bake!

    Nice to see you started a story series! Is this going to be a series of books or series of story episodes? Anyhow, good job!

    I like your choice of words; especially adjectives, and you have also described Hibiscus's ecstatic feelings at the end of the competition very well. Keep posting! :)

      It's going to be a series of story episodes. Hibiscus is actually named after my favorite flower. I am probably going to make the text smaller.

City Spies - book review

 Hey! For some reason lately I've really been into espionage fiction - and when my Audible credit came up I chose this book. This is also, coincidentally, the first not-fantasy book I've read for a while, and it was nice to take a break from the genre. The cover looked pretty cool and who can miss out on such a diverse cast of main characters? I was not let down by any of it. City Spies was so fun and thrilling that I made up a joke to describe the ride to my friends. Joke below. Me: I should really get some sleep. Ten hours at least. Also me at three in the morning: OMG THIS BOOK IS SO EXCITING SLEEP IS OVERRATED Yeah. That pretty much sums up the awesomeness of this book. City Spies has characters from all around the world (France, Nepal, Brazil, Australia, and America) and I could not NOT read it. They all range in age as well - twelve to fifteen years old. DIY Lip Balm - Tutorial

Aaaaand I'm back with another DIY post...this one doesn't have pictures but it is pretty straightforward. This is DIY lip balm and it is soooooo  easy! It literally requires two ingredients for the lip balm itself. It is so cute as well and really tasty. You can make strawberry lip balm, almond lip balm, chocolate lip balm, pineapple lip balm...it just depends on what you have. You can also make flower ones, but I'll go into that in a minute. So, what you will need is: 🌈Petroleum jelly; some people call it Vaseline 🌈Any essence; vanilla, strawberry, chocolate...the possibilities are endless! 🌈A sort of small container to keep you lip balm in 🌈Toothpick 🌈Spoon So, first you want to scoop some Vaseline in your container until it's full. Take your flavouring and add a few drops of it in the Vaseline; and then stir it with a toothpick or skewer; it depends on the amount of lip balm.
